[st uriel's] Discovering the Tarot - an online course

With a couple of friends, I'm about to embark on a detailed but
introductory exploration of the symbol system of the Tarot.

One of the strongest supports to esoteric spiritual practice is to
have a symbol system that can function as a map on your journey. If
you've begun a journey to explore the subtle, interior aspects of your
experience, you will probably have noticed that it's fairly confusing
and mysterious territory.

The Tarot is a core part of the Western esoteric symbol system and
studying it brings greater richness to our understanding of our
culture, of liturgy, of our inner experience and ultimately of The
Divine.

What I'd like to do is gather a group of companions on this journey,
so that we can discuss what we're reading and find support in
discovering. Even if you've studied Tarot before, this will be a nice
opportunity to revise what you know, connect with other students and
link it to a modern understanding of Gnosticism.

The course will be online via a dedicated discussion group. The course
text is Naomi Ozaniec's "The Watkins Tarot Handbook", which is
available from Dymocks or any reasonably large bookstore or online for
around $20-25. You'll also need to pick up a tarot pack (make sure
it's a fairly traditional design like a Rider-Waite pack, don't go
buying Fairy Cards or something)

We'd like to make a start by 9 Feb 2008, so RSVP by Sat 2 Feb.

If you're interested, email me (tim at saint-uriels.org) as soon as you
can, go pick up the book and a Tarot pack and, once we've got a group
together, I'll set up an online space and we can get started.

With Love,
